truck fleet

It’s inevitable to include technology in managing your fleet or in driving your truck down the road. It is one of the most effective ways to manage your fleet.

Most truck drivers have their own mobile devices and most of them are smartphones. A lot of them use their phones daily to conduct their business and help them while on the road.

There are lots of apps that can be used to gather information about gas prices, traffic conditions, and weather updates. Using such apps can help make their life on the road easier. It also helps improve their safety while also helping them be more efficient. With all the apps available, here are a few that I believe are worth trying:

TripLog

This is an IRS compliant app that can help drivers and fleet managers to be more organized and to better track their expenses. The IRS requires receipts for expenses that are more than $75 and this app makes it easier to compile all of them. Taking a picture of the receipt and uploading it for storage. Reports can also be created with the uploaded files for reimbursements.

CoPilot Truck

A navigation solution that uses GPS, the CoPilot Truck shows truck drivers which roads they can take and which roads prohibit trucks. This enables truck drivers to find the best route without having to turn back just because trucks aren’t allowed or don’t fit on such roads. The truck’s dimensions can be loaded into the app. This doesn’t only help with saving on fuel or energy but it also prevents trucks from being fined.

FleetMatics REVEAL

For better monitoring and tracking of trucks, this app can be used. It tells the location, speed, fuel usage, and even the driver behavior so that fleet managers can better monitor the drivers. This helps them come up with plans and solutions to reduce their operating costs. This program can be used on a mobile phone or a desktop computer.

Trucker Tools

This app can very well be a trucker’s best friend. It tells drivers about fuel prices in real-time plus it also shows truck stops, repair and service shops, 24-hour restaurants, truck or trailer wash and many others. It also provides traffic information in real-time. Best of all, this app is free.

Skype

Communication between truck drivers and fleet managers is essential and with this app, they can conveniently call each other. Also, this app can be used by truck drivers to connect to their families while on the road.
