I get excellent results with Pacer Z-Poxy Finishing Resin and light weight (.75 oz) fiberglass cloth. I lightly spray the cloth with Elmer's adhesive, place it on the plane, then pool on some resin and spread it around with a balsa paddle so that only a thin layer of resin covers the cloth.

For glassing wings and such, I'd recommend the .7 oz cloth. I've ordered from Aerospace Composites (http://www.acp-composites.com/) and from The Composite Store (http://www.cstsales.com/). CST had a sale going for a while that included the .7 oz cloth.

The Z-poxy is great stuff. However, I've pretty much switched to the Anchor Bond from http://www.wright-flyr.com. It's a bit cheaper, can be ordered in several different pot lifes, and comes with pumps for easy measuring.

At least that might help with your what and where questions.

I too use 3/4 oz glass cloth but lay it with clear water based polyurethane paint. Much easier than epoxy and non toxic. I had intended to add a write up of this method on my page. Your posting gives me the push I needed to get it done. I should have a method posted within the next few days. I have used this method down to a 25 sized plane. As regards the weight - while I don't have any numbers, I would expect it to be about the same as iron on plastic film.

Thanks selftaughtace for providing the incentive. I've posted a method for glassing using water based polyurethane on my page geocities.com/wisebrit Theres a very good tip on how to lay the cloth, without the use of an adhesive, that the epoxy lovers may find useful.
