I went to my first Jet Show at Marcome Park here in FL. I gotta say it doesn't get any better! A few guys had smokers and wow did they work well with the turbines! Sounds like the real thing, had some nice low flying (almost touching run way)! Fast as can be! Anyways....can't wait till I'm there one day!!!

Hi John,
Yea the boys down in So. Fla are pretty decent. And several large scale EDF's like Hosers Hawk and Mirage.
I have had a Wren 44 sitting here for the past year just nothing to put it in...simply got too caught up in the EDF stuff

what's EDF? A jet crashed and burned yesterday at the park. Was a fireball when it hit. I just don't have that kind of money to throw around and my skill level has a few years (just past my trainer LOL).

EDF = Electric Ducted Fan. Generally small models that fly very fast.

Yep EDF = Electric Ducted Fan
Look at my website and you'll get the idea RT Models (http://www.rtmodels.com/product.htm)

There was 1 guy out there with one. The thing flew awesome and sounded pretty neat as well! He was one of the only ones to get a nice clean landing everytime! I'll be sure to take the degi cam with me next time and get some pics. I'll get some pics of me and my planes as well :-)

We call that watching a grown man cry.
I have to say the fireball is impressive.

This one will be my large twin EDF:
ETA F-89 kit long out of production
Specs:
78" span
66" in length
Plug in wing panels
Approx AUW 15 lbs
Power 2 105mm Wemotec HW-730 EDF fans approx thrust 8 lbs EA
Should be a great 1:1 ratio
Cost to get airborne? about 2k :p
Pic showing what I have now and what one looks like in RTF trim

If I get into Jets I'd have to have a Turbine Jet. I have something against the electric's, and ducted fan Jets. Turbines just sound and look amazing! Don't get me wrong they are still neat, but if I get a jet I want it to be a Jet.

I don't know your flying skill level... but:
For safety... work up via Ducted fan (electric or glow) toward the turbine.
NOW... if you have the money you can just about purchace a RTF turbine model. The probability is that you'll make a smoking crater with it if you haven't flown "lesser" models that can exceed 150 mph before getting the turbine model.

I have interest in Jets but it stops there. I've been in this hobby for less then 2 months LOL no way in hell I'm ready for a jet! I'm streaching it for a 1/4 scale pitts in the next month or 2!
