I have been looking into purchasing the REGAL EAGLE F-15 from www.rcjets.com and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with either the kit or the manufacturer??
It takes a .61 -.91 small head ducted fan engine, I was thinking about the OS .91 for power, this should be plenty, is it?? Also do you have any suggestions on the turbine unit and where to purchase it from? RCJets sells a unit ' High Performance Tractor Fan' for about $189 - http://www.rcjets.com/fan2/index.htm
Would this unit fit the OS .91?? Thanx for any suggestions on this, I hope to get it in the next three months, time to move on to bigger then .60 aerobatic planes, woohoo:D

The Regal Eagle is probably the easiest ducted fan model you can fly. It is relatively easy and inexpensive to build (Basically two boxes.) Although Bob Parkinson seems to have dropped out of sight for a while after his wife's death and there were MANY complaints of poor customer support, he seems to have come back in force and is filling all orders in a timely fashion. I got mine within two weeks! I am in the process of building two. Be advised, however, that the "Craftman" kit consists of canopy, planes, templates, molded parts, thrust tube, intake ducting, and plywodd parts. No balsa part included. No problem, though. Easy to pick up at the local hobby shop or around your parts bin.
The Ramtec fan is available from Aeroloft Designs (http://www.aeroloft.com/start.shtml) and Dynamax fans from Jet Model Products. (http://www.jetmodelproducts.com/dynamax.htm). Engines are harder to come by. Both OS and K&B are temporarily unavailable since these special items are produced in short runs. The Rossi 1.05 is available from Morris Hobbies. You will also need a tuned pipe. Good luck!

I forgot; the fan unit Bob Parkinson sells is the Dynamax. I think you can get it from Jet Model Products here in the USA for about $20 less. You will also need jet (saddle) fuel tanks and a starter probe. Another engine source is ebay - if you want to take the risk of getting a used D/F engine. "New" OS .91s are going for about $300 on ebay. The Morris Hobbies website is difficult to navigate through, but I just checked and they have the Rossi 1.05 for about $499. You might have to call. Saw a "new" Rossi .81 ducted fan engine for sale in box on ebay today - bid currently at $101. Picked one of these up last week for about the same price. It was a very nice find. Good luck!
