I was talking to new found friend who gave my Tower .60 trainer the once over, he told me there could be a problem with the aircraft traveling to the left under full power, and suggested off setting the engine with a slight tilt to the right. He said he wasn't sure about that, sooooooo, what do you all think about that? The engine is an MDS .68 with a Prettner butterfly carb, about .03 CI above the recommended max engine size of .65 CI.

Any way, there isnt much to report, the weather has been bad, so no chance to even try and fly. Today is a German Holiday, Corpus Christi day or "Frohleichnam" in German which translates into "Happy Cadaver Day", have no idea how that came about!!! Any way, the weather is great today!!! Think I will fly, or crash with dignity! Neighbors still think I am Pappy Boyington of the model aircraft set! Little do they know, the manuevers may look good, but its all panic flying!!! I dare say they would start wearing helmuts (pun intended) and flak vests if they knew the truth. I have discovered that my neighbor is a real model airplane fan!! Too bad he is a jerk!!! Considers himself the gift to Model Pilots. He is the only person I ever had to physically remove from my beer garden at my shop!! Now he is bugging me to fly with me, " I vill Teach, all you need to know about Model Flying!! But you vill follw orders!!" Think I need his freindship about as much as I need a battery acid cocktail!!! I wish I could get him interested in something else, like animal husbandry, I think he would make a great father!!! Well till next time!!!

The time you'll notice the Torque of the engine most is when you are traveling slow and give full power(like on overshooting your landing you throttle up to give it another go). It's not an uncontrollable phenom...Fly it and see what it needs. An instructror might be able to help also. It isn't uncommon to have an engine off center or tweeked to the right of center to counter this force of torque.

Almost all planes require a bit of right thrust ( eng. set to the right) on most typical trainers its around 2 to 3 degrees right and about 1 to 2 degrees down.
This will not cure the problem entirely but should tame it a good bit for you.

I would say don't change anything until you have an instructor take the plane up for a flight. A lot of kits have the right thrust built into the kit by making the left side slightly longer than the right side. The difference is hard to spot so its easier just to fly it and see if its needed. Some high speed ground runs can also be used to determine if more right thrust is needed but again, let an instructor do it as he knows how it should handle. Hope this helps. Fast!:D
