Ive got twin ailoron servos but only a 4 channel radio (not computer). After talking to people at tower hobbies they said go buy a 6 channel radio. Then i looked thru the catolog and saw some Y-Harness's and thought to myself this is what i have been looking for all along (i figured that i could just split the signal to the servo to two servos and turn the other servo backwards so they do the opposite) I call again and this time chim in with what are y-harness's this time she says that yes they are the trick just plug in your servo and go. I respond with bug do i have to turn i backwards she says no. I just want to know could somone explain exactly what they are (do they just split the signal) and tell me once and for all if they will in fact work for me. Thank you for your help. Being a beginer with no one (but you nice people:D) is tough.

Just use a Y cable... It allows two servos to share one channel and both respond the same. Mostly used for dual aileron servos or flap servos...

Yes they just split the signal. I have hooked up flapperons w/ 6 channel radio, right aileron channel 1, left channel 6 both with just extensions and program it that way, but when I want to train my dad or someone I only use 4 channels, I hook up a Y harness between channel 1 and the two servos. Hook up the Y harness to channel 1 or which ever and then the servos before you install them to make sure they do what you expect and mount the servos and install pushrods accordingly.

In other words, one servo donesnt go backward just use the left side part of the servo horn on one and the right side on the other so they push opposite directions

There is nothing wrong with a basic 4 channel radio. You don't need a 6 channel radio just because you have dual aileron servos. Smallfly is correct. If you connect to the outside arm on each servo then when the left servo is pulling on the control arm the right servo will be pushing on the control arm even though the servos are moving in the same direction. Even with a 6 channel radio, you would still hook these up the same way. The extra channels are mostly used for flaps and retracts. Retracts aren't as strong as standard landing gear so shouldn't be used on grass runways unless it is really smooth. Flaps aren't usually needed unless you get into larger, heavier airplanes or for special aerobatic models. :D

The reason I saild "backwards" was because the previeos owner of my radio (he i can say my radio now it feels great) sawed off the control horn on the other side so i have to turn it around now. Thank you all for your help. Im so happy i have a plane now all my life i would bug hobby shop owners as i cruised the isles for hours then asked them if this little balsa model (really cheap one) could be made to fly r/c now im 18 and i will fly and fly i will.
