OK, i'm ready to break in my O.S.46 FX:D . What should I use for fuel:confused: ? I've seen yes and no to Castor (Castor smells sooooo goooood), what about nitro, 5, 10 15 %? I've seen somewhere that 5% is good enough:rolleyes: . Am I right in that I should break it in with what I plan to run in it. Suggestions, please>>
Thanks

Freebird,
Go to the fort and go into Hobbyland and get yourself a gallon of Omega glow fuel with 10% nitro. If you have read the manual for your OS 46 FX you will see that it recommends the use of castor oil. Omega has it. It is towards the back of the store. The fuel is pink so it's hard to miss. It is only $13,50 a gallon. It is what I use and it has been pretty good fuel for me.
See ya at the field maybe one day,Fourstar40

I use 15% and have not had any trouble. All i fly are O.S. Engines the biggest being a 46VF which turn a prop at 14,000 - 20,000 RPM depending how i have it tuned on the tuned pipe. Also O.S. 46FX never have had a problem with either. all engines have been very good. I am getting ready to play with a G62 on a pitts challenger. Looking forward to the big stuff also.
hope that helps!!!

Thanks For The Responce wizard2020:) . Ok Dan, I did what you said. I got some pink stuff from the back of the store. As far as meeting you at the field, I'm am becoming more convinced every day that you folks only fly, maybe 6 days a year:D in northern In. It' ranning or the wind is blowing. I sure do hope to see you at the field, _jon_ tells me your real good, I can't wait to see you fly.

Awe,go on now freebird I,m turning red here. This year really does suck. Last year I had been out a half a dozen times by now. What really sucks is today was supposed to be our first fun-fly and the rain did it to us agian.

So now I have FUEL. Once I open it, how long is it going to last? (Be potent is the question)

Some people say it goes stale pretty fast but I used some from a previous year and had no trouble with it. I guess I'm saying it won't go bad for at least a few months.

So Dan: Your telling me I need to open it and get this engine broke in and then the sun will shine and the wind will calm and I can use the rest of it trying not to crash??

I've heard and seen people using fuel more then a few years old! Just keep it in a cool, dry, and dark place. Use after-run oil in the engine after every use (only if you don't like rusted bearings!). Marvel Mystery oil works great and it's cheap!
As far as fuel goes I'll use Wildcat, Powermaster, or Sig. Omega is good stuff, but if I ever bought it I would put more castor in it because it's only 17% oil to begin with. That engine really needs 18% at the least if you want it to last. 20% is even better!
O.S. engines seem to like 5-10% nitro. I used 15% in a few and it also did fine. For the average sport flyer, 10% is perfect.
I like a castor synthetic blend of about 20/80. Wildcat Premium Xtra is my fuel of choice! :)
