Ok still a newbie, we got a relatively old glider we're gonna crash now and then lmao. but we need to re cover thetail. now do you need to use glue and an iron, or just iron it on. we've got a special iron i guess to use for it but doesn't seem to really work. any help is appreciated.

What kind of covering are you trying to put on? If it is Monocote or Ultracote, you need to remove the backing material from the glue side, lay the covering over the section to be covered and iron it down. If you are using a covering that does not have its own adhesive, you need to coat the area to be covered with the adhesive recommended then apply the covering. Some covering such as silkspan or silk, often use nitrate dope to attach the covering. You dope the surfaces to be covered, let it dry, then lay the silk over it and apply more dope on the silk letting it soak thru the material to the dope layer underneith. There are many more techniques to numerous to mention unless we know what you are trying to cover and what you are covering with.

PG_Boot,

You are probably in need of an ironing board. They are 60" long x 14" wide and are tapered at one end. They come with adjustable scissor legs, which allows you to get your work at just the right height. Also, you'll need the optional pad and cover for the ironing board. It is made with a special heat reflective surface and uses cotton as a backing for a soft, cushioned feel. The pad and cover is the secret to your success. It reflects the heat back into your work piece, therefore warming the material up and making it more receptive to the glue that's built into your covering film. There are two models to choose from, the deluxe model which has 45 adjustable height settings and 2 built in power outlets, or the standard model which has 3 adjustable height settings. The pad and cover is sold seperately.

Good Luck
