I have a ducted fan model that a fellow club member gave to me. It is by far the ugliest model I have ever seen, even uglier than those mud ducks, LOL. It has a long, narrow chorded wing that tapers slightly towards the ends and the wing is swept back a little. The span is about 60" or so. The horizontal stabilizer is shaped somewhat like the wing and is very wide or long. The ducted fan unit is somewhat heavy and it is pirched on top of the fuse behind the TE of the wing. It has a K&B 6.5cc engine with a tuned pipe on it that is in need of a carb. And to top it all off, the plane is covered in PINK and WHITE monokote, LOL.

Supposedly, the guy that gave it to me won it at a swapmeet and then he had his cousin build it. The cousin's wife said that he had to cover it in pink and white. This plane has been flown, but it was a long, long time ago. The guy said it flew OK.

I will have to find a carb to put on it and get the thing in the air. I have never experimented with a ducted fan setup before. If nothing else, I will put a 30' streamer on the back of it and let guys practice combat on it. It should move right along.

Just thought I would share my one and only ducted fan plane and the "ugliest rc airplane" I have ever seen, LOL

Sure WreckRman2

I will try to get on the puter at home tonight and post a picture of the ugly thing. Just make sure your monitor tube doesn't shatter, LOL. Or at least make sure you are wearing safety glasses while viewing.

I also have some pics of a biplane kit that I wanna' post or e-mail to ya', I will get them, too.

Yeah, I keep thinking the same thing, "with a little work, this could be something", LOL. Just haven't figured out what. :D

With it's wing placement, I have considered shaping it into an A-10 Warthog look alike. It's got a good airframe and with some camo paint, I could paint right over the monokote that's on it. I would have to change the tail to a twin-fin design and build a couple of engine housings and get ahold of a couple of .25's for it, shape a canopy, etc.

I dunno, it'll probably sit around forever and just BE UGLY.
